The mission of the Eritrean Deaf Society in Europe (EDSE) is to promote the economic, educational, and social equality of deaf individuals. EDSE strives to remove barriers in education, employment, and public services by ensuring equal access to opportunities and resources. Its goal is to create a level playing field where deaf people can thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.
EDSE is also dedicated to advocating for justice and equal rights within the legal system, ensuring that deaf individuals are granted the same privileges and protections as others. This includes advancing better communication access through interpreters, captioning, and accessible technology, enabling full participation in society.
To address systemic inequalities and discrimination that have historically marginalized the deaf community, EDSE actively works on multiple fronts. Beyond legal and economic advocacy, EDSE is committed to uplifting the morale and well-being of deaf individuals. By fostering unity and empowerment, it encourages pride in deaf identity. EDSE promotes leadership, self-advocacy, and social connection within the deaf community, contributing to a stronger, more inclusive society for all.
