Memeber

Membership Categories

The Association offers the following categories of membership:

  • Full Members

  • Affiliated Members

  • Associated Members

  • Honorary Members

  • Individual Members

Unless otherwise specified, the term "member" collectively refers to all membership categories. Both individuals (natural persons) and organisations (legal persons) may become members, provided they meet the legal requirements of their country of residence and demonstrate a commitment to the association's objectives.

OUR MISSION

The Eritrean Deaf Society in Europe (EDSE) is dedicated to promoting economic, educational, and social equality for deaf individuals. EDSE works to remove barriers in education, employment, and public services, advocating for justice, equal rights, and accessible communication through interpreters, captioning, and technology. Committed to combating systemic discrimination, EDSE empowers the deaf community through unity, leadership, and pride in deaf identity, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society for all.

FULL MEMBER

EDSE is an organisation composed mainly of deaf individuals, including members or the board of Directors, who share the goals outlined in its statues. Full membership is open to those who actively participate in the association's activities and align with its mission Members are regularly informed about the association's initiatives and play a role in shaping its priorities. Additionally, individuals from European Free Trade Association ( EFTA ) members states may quality for full membership it they meet EDSE's criteria. Membership is voluntary, and members may resign freely or by a decision of the board.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBER

Individual membership is open to anyone interested to supporting the work of EDSE supporting the work of EDSE and committed to helped achieve its goals and objectives.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER

Any European association, business, or community that does not fully meet EDSE's criteria but supports its objectives. and whose goals do not conflict with EDSE's. may apply for associate membership. This applies to groups geographically based in Europe.

HONORARY MEMBER

Honorary members may be granted to individuals or organisations that they have provided significant services at the European or international levels to EDSE and the Eritrean community of the deaf.
