The Eritrean National Association of the Deaf (EriNAD) was founded in June 1998, first congress of ErINAD there were approximately 40.000 Deaf Individuals The association's work has empowered the generations in engaging the deaf community with the hearing communities on equal terms. The vision for EriNAD originated by the elders deaf with a bold idea to create an organization that would champion the rights and well being of deaf Eritreans. They envisioned an association that would stand for the values of tights. equality, and protection, offering deaf individuals a platform to pursue their goals without barriers. Under the new leadership. EriNAD was given a name symbolizing hope. creativity selef determination and can do.Their open and collective missions had led to inspire young deaf students to foster and promote.


EriNAD has played a vital role in promoting inclusivity and equal rights for the Deaf community in Eritrea. It has not only advocated for legal reforms but also created spaces for Deaf individuals to thrive. ensure they are recognized as equal members or the Eritrean society.


EriNAD remains dedicated to fostering a future where deaf individual can pursue their dreams, contribute to society, and live whith dignity and respect, free from the limitations imposed by societal misconceptions.



Deaf people 

After completing 5th grade at the school for the deaf in Keren, deaf students typically only have the option to train as tailors or, in some cases, carpet makers. Unfortunately, there are no opportunities for specialized education or diverse career paths for deaf individuals in Eritrea.
